Nancy Mozzachio Files Lawsuit Against Cedar Realty’s CEO
Former Cedar Realty Chief Operating Officer Nancy H. Mozzachio filed a pay discrimination and a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company’s CEO Bruce Schanzer. It is just waiting for a Brooklyn judge to be deciding if the lawsuit has more merit to proceed.
As per Nancy Mozzachio’s statement of her filed lawsuit on November 2, she says that she has seen and heard Schanzer always making inappropriate comments to women as well as leering them. Aside from calling Nancy Mozzachio ‘babe’, Schanzer also commented about her breast. While holding a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, he said allegedly that she has double Ds today. In addition, Schanzer was said to have been groping her from time to time at work that is totally unwanted.
After Nancy H. Mozzachio filed the lawsuit of pay disparity and sexual harassment, the company decided that it be best for her to be fired from work as well. After she was found out to be seeking some outside legal help from Cedar to discuss how she can go about filing her sexual harassment case, she was then terminated in February 2016. Based on her claims, after her meeting was canceled on the spot, she was then being told by the company that she will be terminated the next week.
During the year 2015 when an external investigator decided to probe on the allegations, Cedar Realty then decided to start investigating on the matter. Despite the presence of an investigator by the company, Nancy Mozzachio makes mention that if it will be about Schanzer and the sexual harassment allegations made by the female employees of the company, the investigator ignores them. One of the reports of the Wall Street Journal has even gotten some claim from one female employee who has been asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. So that investors will not be taking back their money from the company, these complaints are silenced as per Mozzachio by paying by payroll the complainants.
The company has obtained some success because of Nancy Mozzachio and she as well. She has made her way to the top as being the chief operating officer in the year 2014 after she has become the director of leasing and vice president of leasing in the years 2003 and 2004, respectively. According to what she is filing, she complains that she is only getting smaller bonuses as well as lower salaries being the chief operating officer compared to the chief financial officer when in fact she must get them in higher amount. Cedar Realty expectedly denied the charges and as per findings, the allegations were without merit.
After considering the case of no merit, Nancy H. Mozzachio is not going to be backing down from it just yet. She will continue fighting for the right of women working in a safer workplace.
